Stepping Up for a Strong Future: Celebrating Community Philanthropy

Celebrating Community Philanthropy highlighted the generosity and meaningful impact of philanthropy in our region. The theme, Stepping Up, underscored the vital role philanthropy plays in addressing community needs and empowering people to take action.

Sponsored by The Cecilian Bank, the lunch brought together community members, donors, and leaders to hear personal stories and challenge us all to Step Up.

“The Cecilian Bank is incredibly thankful for the opportunity to sponsor Celebrating Community Philanthropy: Stepping Up with Central Kentucky Community Foundation,” said Tracie Oliver, Senior Vice-President – Assistant Senior Lender & Lending Administration Officer for The Cecilian Bank. “Together, we make a lasting impact, and it’s an honor to celebrate the spirit of giving that uplifts our community,” she added.

Celebrating the 10-year anniversary of Heels Together, kicked off the program, marking 10 years supporting women and girls in Hardin County. Over the past decade, Heels Together has made a lasting difference in the lives of countless women awarding over $250,000 to 15 nonprofit organizations.

Scott and Monica Kisselbaugh shared how their charitable giving through real estate gifts in conjunction with their Donor Advised Fund has allowed them to support causes they care about. Their story demonstrated how innovative giving strategies can maximize the impact of philanthropy.

One of the most emotional moments came from Jason Sutton, who shared the deeply personal story behind Julie Sutton’s Shoes, a fund he created in memory of his late wife, Julie. Inspired by her compassionate spirit, Jason started this fund to provide shoes to kids in need, continuing her legacy of kindness.

“After listening to the stories from the program, I am inspired to step up in my community,” said Whitney Choate, Hart County High School College and Career Coach. “I want this community to thrive for years to come and realize we need to work together to accomplish this.”

Throughout the program, Celebrating Community Philanthropy showcased the incredible power of Stepping Up for others.
