The following is a list of scholarships from the 2020 CKCF Scholarship Central season. You may register at any time, but Scholarship Central opens for applications January 1 each year. 

All scholarship applications in Scholarship Central require the following documentation:

  • Official transcript – provided by academic counselor
  • ACT and/or SAT scores – provided by academic counselor
  • Copy of your full Student Aid Report (SAR) when you complete the FAFSA (fafsa.ed.gov) – uploaded by applicant
  • Copy of acceptance letter to college/university – uploaded by applicant

Some scholarships require additional documentation, which is listed on each application. Scholarship applicants must meet specific criteria for each scholarship. Award amounts and the number of awards are estimates and are subject to change from year to year.

Scholarships Available In 2020

2020 Alma Crowder Cooper Memorial Scholarship – $250 for multiple students

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a student who has completed one year of college course work
  • Plan to pursue a career in English, English education or a related field
  • Demonstrate academic potential, integrity and high moral principles
  • Plan to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • A letter of recommendation from a teacher expressing the applicant’s academic potential, integrity and high moral principles
  • A letter of recommendation from a non-family member qualified to speak on the applicant’s potential to succeed 

2020 Ann Ewing Memorial Scholarship – $1,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a Nelson County High School graduating senior
  • Completed at least four years of advanced math courses to include accelerated Algebra II, geometry, precalculus and AP Calculus
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

2020 Audrey Shoulders Memorial Scholarship – $500 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a Central Hardin High School graduating senior
  • A current member of FFA or the CHHS Archery Team
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • An essay describing the impact on your personal growth and development from your involvement with either FFA or the Archery team

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a graduating senior from Bardstown High School, Bethlehem High School, Nelson County High School or Thomas Nelson High School
  • ACT score of 20 or higher
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA

2020 Bill Pitcock Memorial Scholarship – $2,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Plan to pursue a technical degree (Automotive, Electrical, HVAC, Welding, etc.) at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • Demonstrate academic potential, integrity and high moral principles
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • A letter of recommendation from a non-family member qualified to speak on the applicant’s potential to succeed 
  • A letter of recommendation from a teacher expressing the applicant’s academic potential, integrity and high moral principles

2020 Brent Wagoner Excellence in Education Scholarship – $500 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a Central Hardin High School graduating senior
  • Must have attended East Hardin Middle School
  • Demonstrate extra-curricular involvement
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • Letter of recommendation from a non-family member who knows you well
  • A list of all extra-curricular activities

2020 Brewer Trust Fund Ruth S. Brewer Scholarship – Various award amounts for multiple students

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Plan to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • Must meet minimum academic standards

2020 Brianna Taylor Memorial Scholarship – $1,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be an Elizabethtown High School graduating senior
  • A female varsity athlete
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • A list of all EHS athletic involvement
  • A list of all EHS extra-curricular activities (denote FCA involvement)
  • Letter of recommendation from a coach, teacher or sponsor

2020 Brice Taylor Memorial Scholarship – $1,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be an Elizabethtown High School graduating senior
  • A male varsity athlete
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • A list of all EHS athletic involvement

2020 Cindy Ethington Memorial Scholarship – $1,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a Nelson County High School graduating senior
  • Completed at least four years of advanced English and/or Drama courses
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

2020 Col. Larry and Betty Sue French Scholarship – $1,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a Hardin County student attending or planning to attend Western Kentucky University Elizabethtown Campus
  • Pursuing any academic or vocational field of study
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

2020 Culinary Scholarship – $500 award for multiple students

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a Culinary Arts student at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College or a high school senior enrolling in the Culinary Arts program at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • Cumulative 2.0 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • An essay expressing why you want to pursue a career in culinary arts

2020 Dennis and Lisa Parrett Family Scholarship – $1,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a graduate of a high school in Hardin County, Kentucky
  • The applicant must have completed one year of college course work past high school
  • Enrolled for the 2020-2021 academic year at the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food and Environment
  • Pursuing any academic or vocational field of study within the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • Copy of your college transcripts for any post-secondary institution attended
  • If your college transcript does not reflect current enrollment at the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, please attach proof of acceptance into the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment at the University of Kentucky for the 2020-2021 academic year
  • An essay explaining what you think the agriculture and food supply chain field will be like in the next 10 years and what interests you about working in this area

2020 Dr. George and Hazel Luster Endowed Scholarship – Various award amounts for multiple students

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a Kentucky resident
  • Plan to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • Cumulative 2.0 GPA

2020 Dr. Jim Owen Memorial Scholarship – $500 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a graduating senior in high school
  • Plan to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • Cumulative 2.75 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • An essay explaining how you have helped your family or made your community a better place to live
  • A list of all community service involvement in the past four years

2020 Dr. Linda Mayhew STEM Scholarship – $500 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a graduating senior in high school
  • Plan to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • Plan to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • An essay explaining why the applicant has chosen a STEM related field of study and why the applicant has chosen to start their higher education at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College

2020 ECTC Endowed Scholarship – Various award amounts for multiple students

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Plan to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • The applicant must be a full-time student for the 2020-2021 academic year
  • Must meet minimum academic standards

2020 Edith Dupin Community Leader Scholarship – $500 for multiple students

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Plan to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • The applicant must be a resident of Hardin County, Kentucky
  • The applicant must exhibit skills indicative of leadership ability
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • A letter of recommendation from a teacher expressing the applicant’s academic potential, leadership abilities and experience
  • A letter of recommendation from a non-family member qualified to speak on the applicant’s potential to succeed 

2020 EE Hubbard Memorial Kiwanis Scholarship for Key Club Members – $500 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a Nelson County High School or Thomas Nelson High School graduating senior
  • The applicant must be a Key Club Member at Nelson County High School or Thomas Nelson High School
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • An essay describing your personal mission, vision and values

2020 Elizabethtown Hardin County Industrial Foundation Training Consortium Scholarship- $3,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Plan to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • The applicant must be a legal dependent, age 26 or younger, of a parent or guardian who is employed by an Elizabethtown Hardin County Industrial Foundation Training Consortium member company (AGC Automotive, Akebono, Altec Industries, Amaray, Bluegrass Cellular, The Cecilian Bank, City of Elizabethtown, Dow Chemical, Flex Films, Gates Corporation, Metalsa, Mouser Custom Cabinetry, ORBIS, Plastikon, Soudal/Accumetric)
  • The applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student and studying in any academic or technical program
  • Must meet the minimum academic standards

Additional documentation requirements:

  • An essay expressing how receiving the EIFTC Scholarship will help you achieve your career goals
  • An additional EIFTC application which should be obtained and completed by the parent’s company of employment

2020 Elizabethtown High School Class of 1966 – $1,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be an Elizabethtown High School graduating senior
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

2020 Elizabethtown Rotary Club- Jim Owen Scholarship – (1) $1,000 award and (1) $500 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Plan to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • The applicant must be a Central Hardin High School, Elizabethtown High School or John Hardin High School graduating senior
  • The applicant must be a full-time student for the 2019-2020 academic year
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • A letter of recommendation from a teacher expressing the applicant’s academic potential, integrity and high moral principles
  • A letter of recommendation from a non-family member qualified to speak on the applicant’s potential to succeed 

2020 Elizabethtown, Hardin and LaRue County Retired Teachers Association Transfer Scholarship – $750 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a Central Hardin High School, Elizabethtown High School, John Hardin High School, LaRue County High School or North Hardin High School graduating senior
  • Plan to transfer to a 4-year Kentucky college or university
  • Plan to pursue a career in teaching or education
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA

2020 Engineering and Electronic Technology Department Scholarship – $500 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be enrolled in the Engineering and Electronics Technology program through Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • The applicant must have completed at least 30 college credit hours through Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • Priority give to a non-traditional (adult learner) student
  • Cumulative 3.25 GPA

2020 Fourth District Retired Teachers Association Scholarship – $500 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Plan to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • The applicant must be a resident and graduate of a high school in the 4th District area (Breckinridge, Grayson, Green, Hardin, Hart, Marion, Meade, Nelson, Taylor or Washington counties)
  • Plan to pursue a career in education or teaching
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

2020 Ft. Knox Chapter, Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) – (1) $2,500 award and (6) $1,500 awards

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • (1) a family member (dependent) of an active duty, Guard or Reserve military service member or (2) a family member of a 20-year or medically retired or deceased active duty, Guard or Reserve military service member or (3) the grandson/granddaughter of a 20-year or medically retired (living or deceased), active duty, Guard or Reserve military service member
  • A graduating senior attending a high school or home school program in the Fort Knox area (Elizabethtown Independent, FAITH Home School, Fort Knox, Hardin County, LaRue County, Meade County, North Hardin Christian School)
  • May not be a recipient of a full four-year scholarship or have accepted an appointment to a military academy
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA or be in the upper half of your graduating class

Additional documentation requirements:

  • An essay on why you need this scholarship
  • A list of all honors you have earned (National Honor Society, Boy/Girl Scouts, academic awards, etc.)
  • A list of any employment opportunities you have had
  • A copy of the front and back of your dependent or Sponsor’s Military ID card

2020 Gene Haas Scholarship – $500 award to multiple students

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Plan to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • Plan to pursue a career in computer manufacturing and machining
  • Cumulative 2.0 GPA

2020 Glenn D. and Bennie Lou Hammons Family Scholarship – $750 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a resident of Hardin County
  • Cumulative 2.5-3.5 GPA

2020 Gourmand’s International Culinary Scholarship – $1,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a Culinary Arts student at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College or a high school senior enrolling in the Culinary Arts program at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College

Additional documentation requirements:

  • A letter of recommendation
  • Current ECTC students: letter of recommendation from a professor in the Culinary Arts department
  • Other students: letter of recommendation from a relevant person who can speak to your interest and aptitude in Culinary Arts
  • An essay expressing why you should be selected for a college scholarship

2020 Hardin County Bar Association Scholarship – $2,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a resident of Hardin County
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • An essay expressing how you are an example of a good citizen, how you exhibit a keen sense of justice and fair play in your attitude towards others, why the financial assistance is important to you and any interest you have in a legal career
  • Letter of recommendation from guidance counselor or principal

2020 Hardin County Bar Association Teen Court Scholarship – $2,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a resident of Hardin County
  • The applicant must participate in Teen Court
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • An essay expressing how you are an example of a good citizen, how you exhibit a keen sense of justice and fair play in your attitude towards others, why the financial assistance is important to you and any interest you have in a legal career
  • Letter of recommendation from guidance counselor or principal

2020 Hardin County Cattlemen’s Association Hansell G. Pile, Sr. Memorial Scholarship – $1,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a college student attending a university or technical school in Kentucky
  • The applicant or a member of the applicant’s family should be involved in production agriculture or agri-business

2020 Hardin County Cattlemen’s Association Wayne G. Overall, Jr. Memorial Scholarship – $1,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a graduating senior in high school
  • The applicant or a member of the applicant’s family should be involved in production agriculture or agri-business
  • The applicant must be planning to attend a university or technical school in Kentucky

2020 Hardin County Principal Organization Scholarship – $500 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a Hardin County Schools graduating senior
  • Plan to pursue a career in education
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA

2020 Hardin LaRue Medical Society Endowed Nursing Scholarship – $1,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be enrolled in the Associate Degree Nursing Program at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

2020 Harold and Cynthia Carter Memorial Scholarship – $2,000 award for multiple students (renewable)

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a LaRue County High School graduating senior or a previous graduate of LaRue County High School
  • Plan to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • Cumulative 2.0 GPA

2020 Heart of Kentucky Association of Realtors Scholarship – $1,000 award for multiple students

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a Central Hardin High School, Elizabethtown High School, Fort Knox High School, John Hardin High School, LaRue County High School, Meade County High School or North Hardin High School graduating senior or attend any accredited high school in these districts
  • Plan to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • A letter of recommendation from a non-family member who knows you well
  • A letter of recommendation from a coach, teacher or sponsor qualified to speak on the applicant’s potential to succeed

2020 Hope Wheeler Scholarship – $500 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Attend or plan to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • The applicant must be an Elizabethtown High School graduating senior or current ECTC student majoring in education
  • Plan to pursue a career in education
  • Demonstrate volunteer, service learning or service to others involvement
  • Cumulative 2.0 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • An essay explaining why you want to be an education major, why you want to pursue your education at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, why providing a strong educational foundation is important to children, a description of your career and academic goals and how the scholarship would be helpful to you
  • A list of volunteer, service learning or service to others involvement

2020 Hudson First Generation Scholarship – $700 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a full-time or part-time credential seeking student at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • The applicant must be a first generation college student
  • Cumulative 2.0 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • An essay expressing why being a first generation college student is important to you

2020 J. Michael Salsman, PE Construction Scholarship – $1,000 award (renewable)

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a graduating senior from a Nelson County high school
  • Plan to pursue a career in Construction or Engineering related field
  • Priority to applicants who are family members of BCD employees, customers, subcontractors or suppliers
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

2020 J.R. and Carrie Lee Edwards Scholarship – $2,000 award (renewable)

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a LaRue County High School graduating senior or a previous graduate of LaRue County High School
  • Plan to pursue a career in teaching or education
  • Completed at least 15 units of college-bound core curriculum
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • An essay expressing why you should be selected for a college scholarship
  • A letter of recommendation from a non-family member expressing why the applicant would make a great educator.

2020 J.T. Wiglesworth Automotive Scholarship – $1,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be graduating senior currently enrolled in the Automotive Technology program at EC3
  • Plan to attend a two-year technical or trade school
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

2020 Jacob Barber & Katarina Peeters Memorial Scholarship – $500 for multiple students

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a John Hardin High School graduating senior
  • A current member of the JHHS Archery Team
  • Cumulative 2.0 GPA

2020 James and Betty Holeman Scholarship – $2,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a graduating senior from a high school in the Lincoln Trail Region of Kentucky (Breckinridge, Grayson, Hardin, LaRue, Marion, Meade, Nelson, and Washington counties)
  • Plan to attend a two or four year academic or technical school
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

2020 John Dink Memorial Scholarship – $2,000 for multiple students

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a resident of Hardin County
  • Plan to attend a Kentucky college or university
  • Cumulative 2.8 GPA

2020 Kathy Mattingly Kidwell Memorial Scholarship – $500 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a Nelson County High School or Thomas Nelson High School graduating senior
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • An essay describing how your community service activities have impacted you as well as those you have served

2020 KCTCS Commonwealth Scholarship – Various award amounts for multiple students

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Plan to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • The applicant must be a Kentucky resident
  • The applicant must be in the top 10% of their high school graduating class; or a previous graduate who graduated in the top 10% of their graduating class
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA

2020 KCTCS John T. Smith Scholarship – Various award amounts for multiple students

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Plan to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • Enrolled for at least 6 hours per semester
  • The applicant must be a Kentucky resident
  • The applicant must be an African-American student
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

2020 KCTCS Kentucky Colonels Better Life Scholarship – $2,500 for multiple students (renewable)

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a Kentucky resident planning to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • The applicant must be a full-time student enrolled as a new freshman
  • The applicant must be a single, working parent of a child under the age of twelve years old
  • Plan to pursue an Associate’s degree
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • The Honorable Order of Colonels application form

2020 KCTCS Martha C. Johnson Tuition Scholarship for Transfer Curriculum – Award amount varies

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Plan to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • The applicant must be a second year student who has completed a minimum of 30 college level credit hours
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • A list of all community service involvement
  • A letter of recommendation from a non-family member qualified to speak on the applicants potential to succeed
  • A letter of recommendation from a teacher expressing the applicants academic potential and community service involvement

2020 KCTCS Paladin Building Sciences Scholarship – $5,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Plan to pursue a career in science, architecture, or engineering (mechanical or electrical)
  • Plan to transfer to a 4-year Kentucky college or university
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • A letter of recommendation from a teacher expressing the applicant’s academic potential, integrity and high moral principles

2020 Lanny Skees Memorial Scholarship – $2,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a Central Hardin High School graduating senior
  • Plan to attend Western Kentucky University
  • Pursuing a career in an agricultural science field
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • An essay expressing why you have chosen a career in agriculture

2020 LG&E/KU Innovation Scholarship – $1,750 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Plan to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • Plan to enroll in one of the following programs: Engineering and Electronics Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Auto Diesel or Industrial Electricity
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

2020 Mac Michaelis Scholarship – $500 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a resident of Hardin County
  • Pursuing a career in law enforcement
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • An essay expressing why you want a career in law enforcement and what influenced this decision
  • Preference will be given to an applicant whose parent/guardian is current or retired member of the Fraternal Order of Police, United States Mint, Military Police, or a local law enforcement agency

2020 Marc Evan Beeler Memorial Journalism Scholarship – $2,500 for multiple students

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Plan to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • The applicant must be a resident of Hardin County, Kentucky
  • The applicant must be a graduate from a high school in Hardin County, Kentucky
  • The applicant must be enrolled as a full-time second year student
  • Plan to pursue a career in journalism
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA

  • A letter of recommendation from a teacher expressing the applicant’s academic potential, integrity and high moral principles

2020 Martha Ailene Knudson Memorial Endowed Nursing Scholarship – $500 award

2020 Martha Jane Hamilton Nursing Scholarship – Up to full tuition (renewable)

  • The applicant must be a Meade County High school graduating senior or a previous graduate of Meade County High School
  • Enrolled to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • Pursuing a career in nursing

2020 Mike and Sharon Bell Scholarship – $1,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a current Hardin County Water District No. 2 customer or an active member of Glendale Christian Church for at least 5 years
  • Plan to attend a two or 4 year academic or technical school
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA

2020 Nandi’s Smile Scholarship – $500 for multiple students

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a North Hardin High School graduating senior
  • Plan to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • Demonstrate music and community involvement
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA

2020 Rae of Sunshine Kentucky Scholarship – $2,000 award for multiple students

On January 8th, 2018, Taylor Rae Nolan tragically lost her life to suicide. The Rae of Sunshine Foundation (KY) was born and is dedicated to increasing access to mental health resources, eliminating stigma, and promoting kindness. By providing scholarship money to individuals pursuing careers in the mental health field, our foundation hopes to continue to encourage the establishment of resources to change the stories of individuals who are struggling. Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be an Elizabethtown High School graduating senior

2020 Single Parent Successful Student Scholarship – $250 award for multiple students

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a single parent of a child under the age of twelve years old
  • The applicant must be entering their final year of study at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College

2020 Taylor and June Spaulding Memorial Scholarship – $1,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a Washington County High School graduating senior
  • Cumulative 2.75 GPA

Additional documentation requirements:

  • An essay choosing from one of the following:
  • Explain a time when you faced an obstacle or challenge. How did you handle this difficulty and what did you learn about yourself from the experience? How do you see this experience shaping your future?

2020 Taylor Martin Scholarship – $1,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a Thomas Nelson High School graduating senior
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA

  • An essay describing who or what inspires you
  • Letter of recommendation from a coach, teacher or sponsor who knows you well
  • A list of athletic club or team involvement

2020 Trooper Ponder Memorial Scholarship – $954 for multiple students

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a graduating senior living and attending school in Hardin or Meade counties
  • Open to students pursuing any academic or vocational field of study; priority to applicants pursuing Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement
  • Must have three or more of the following Trooper Ponder Memorial Scholarship qualifications:
  • Parent/Guardian is active military or military veteran with honorable discharge or was killed-in-action
  • Parent/Guardian is current or retired full-time police officer or fell to line of duty death
  • Student competed for at least 3 years in one of the following high school sports: track/field, baseball or football
  • Student academic rating is B (3.0) or higher
  • Student will pursue a career in criminal justice or law enforcement
  • Student will enlist in active military service
  • Student has donated 10 or more documented hours to community service
  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA

2020 Vinson and Mary M. Thomas Memorial Scholarship – $500 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be enrolled in the Associate Degree Nursing Program at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • The applicant must have children
  • Priority given to applicants over the age of 25 and a resident of Grayson County
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA

2020 Wendy Elaine Trenum Memorial Scholarship – $1,000 award

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a North Hardin High School graduating senior
  • Plan to pursue a career in education
  • Plan to attend a Kentucky college or university
  • Cumulative 2.75 GPA
