Central Kentucky Community Foundation and Elizabethtown Community Announce Strategic Partnership

January 10, 2018 – Central Kentucky Community Foundation and Elizabethtown Community and Technical College announce a new strategic partnership that will strengthen higher education and better position our region for continued growth. Today’s announcement was made by President and CEO of CKCF, Davette B. Swiney; and President and CEO of ECTC, Dr. Juston Pate.

“We are excited to work together with ECTC, and what this partnership means for our students, employers, and the future of our region,” said Swiney. “ECTC is known for their educational excellence, and we are proud to partner with them to strengthen education and bring more opportunities to our area. Together we will enhance higher education.”

These two organizations have a shared history, dating back to the fall of 1964 when Elizabethtown Community College opened its doors. In 1960 a group of dedicated community leaders joined together and formed North Central Education Foundation, now known as Central Kentucky Community Foundation, with the mission of opening a college in Elizabethtown. Four years later that dream became a reality.

Over the years, the two organizations continued to grow with ECC combining the technical college to create ECTC, and North Central Education Foundation transitioning to become a community foundation, CKCF.  With this growth and expansion, they began operating more independently. However, as our region continues to develop, CKCF and ECTC recognize the importance of this partnership and working together to enhance education and our communities.

“When working to create opportunities that solve persistent, complex problems and challenges people face, it is always better to work together, across organizations to make that happen,” said Swiney. “Coming together helps people, organizations and our communities be more resilient.”

“This is a fantastic partnership for our college, CKCF, and our region,” said Dr. Pate. “This is the way it should be, and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do together.”

This exciting partnership was announced during the January Hardin County Chamber Luncheon. CKCF and ECTC will work together to continue their mission of supporting higher education, providing college scholarships and creating educational programs and projects.
