July 28, 2017 – Abigail Edwards recently received the Owen J. Estes, Sr. Memorial Scholarship from Central Kentucky Community Foundation.

Abigail is a 2017 graduate of Hart County High School and is enrolled at the University of Kentucky. Abigail is the daughter of Jerry Edwards and Cressy Sturgeon.

The Owen J. Estes, Sr. Memorial Scholarship was established in 2012, by Paul Estes to honor his father’s work in education. The scholarship is offered each year to students graduating from Hart County High School.

“It is rewarding to help our donors invest in students through our scholarship program, Scholarship Central,” said Davette B. Swiney, President and CEO of CKCF. “Their commitment to future generations and the importance of education is truly something that makes our community special. It is an honor to support students from across our region as they pursue their educational and life goals.”

The Owen J. Estes, Sr. Memorial Scholarship is one of 98 scholarships being awarded by CKCF this year through Scholarship Central. The scholarships total nearly $115,000 and were awarded to 81 students at eight high schools and two colleges in the region. More information on this scholarship and other scholarships available to students can be found at Scholarship Central at www.ckcf4people.org.
