Heels Together Announces Grant Finalists

September 7, 2017 – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana, Elizabethtown Independent Schools and Silverleaf Sexual Trauma Recovery Services are the three finalists for the annual Heels Together funding.

Heels Together is a women-led strategic initiative of Central Kentucky Community Foundation. The program strives to enhance the lives of women and girls in our community. It is funded by local women committed to helping other women and girls through their collective giving, along with their time and passion.

This year 38 women in our community invested in Heels Together to fund grant requests and the Heels Together Endowment. Each Heels Together investor gives $1,000 annually. Half the funds are placed in an endowment– a fund that only spends earnings and preserves the initial investment – and half will be used for annual grant awards. Following grant presentations at the banquet, investors will vote to determine which proposals are awarded the approximately $20,000 available for funding.

“Heels Together is committed to improving the lives of women and girls in our community,” said volunteer Julia Springsteen. “When opportunities are available to encourage, teach and support females, our community benefits. It’s important to champion programs that help create strong, independent and successful women.”

At the Heels Together banquet on October 26, investors will come together to hear proposals from the three finalists. Investors will vote on the project proposals to select the investments which will have the most impact in the lives of women and girls in Central Kentucky. The final grant awards will be announced at the conclusion of the banquet.

“CKCF is passionate about connecting donors with initiatives that make a lasting impact on our community,” said Davette B. Swiney, President and CEO for CKCF. “Heels Together is a perfect example. It’s an honor to work with donors and a program that improves the quality of life for women and girls in our area.”
