Elizabethtown Heritage Council Establishes Endowment Fund with Central Kentucky Community Foundation

December 2, 2017 – The Elizabethtown Heritage Council recently partnered with Central Kentucky Community Foundation to establish an endowment fund that will ultimately provide a new, permanent revenue stream for the Heritage Council.

“This partnership allows us to help the Heritage Council look to the future and further their mission in the community,” said Davette Swiney, President and CEO of CKCF. “Endowments are unique in that they stretch beyond lifetimes. Over time the endowment will provide a revenue stream that will strengthen their presence in the community forever.”

The Elizabethtown Heritage Council is dedicated to the preservation, restoration and revitalization of downtown Elizabethtown. They sponsor several festivals and events throughout the year to bring our community together in the heart of the city. The Heritage Council’s work increases awareness of downtown offerings and stimulates the local economy, while at the same time preserving historic integrity.

Endowments are a tool that keeps donor gifts completely intact, only distributing the earnings. Building a long-term, endowment provides a stable financial future for nonprofit organizations. Nonprofit endowments protect organization’s endowed monies for future needs, provides annual income and provides a way for donors to give complex gifts such as stock, life insurance or property. CKCF’s work and management of endowments allow nonprofit organizations like the Heritage Council to focus on their goals.

“The Heritage Council has been supporting downtown Elizabethtown since 1996 and we want to make sure we can continue to do so forever. The endowment fund through CKCF allows us to look toward the future and become self-sufficient as well as grow our programs and events for the benefit of downtown,” said Julia Springsteen, Elizabethtown Heritage Council Board Chair. “Downtown is important to our community, and we want to ensure that we continually support and encourage new business as well as visitors to our revitalized downtown.”

Central Kentucky Community Foundation is committed to helping the nonprofit community grow and develop strategically, to best serve our community. Nonprofit agencies look to CKCF to hold their organization’s endowment. A constant source of funding helps organizations respond to emergency needs, as well as plan for the future and sustain the good work they do.

The public can donate to the Elizabethtown Heritage Council Fund and help support the continued preservation of downtown Elizabethtown. Gifts to the fund may be eligible for the Endow Kentucky state income tax credit which offers donors up to a 20 percent credit for their contribution when they support the Elizabethtown Heritage Council endowment.
