Central Kentucky Community Foundation Host Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Home of Philanthropy

April 3, 2018 – Central Kentucky Community Foundation announces a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Home of Philanthropy on Friday, April 20 at 12:00 p.m. (EDT), located at 200 Jim Owen Drive in Elizabethtown, KY. CKCF serves a 9-county region which includes Breckinridge, Grayson, Hardin, Hart, LaRue, Marion, Meade, Nelson and Washington counties.

The Home of Philanthropy will be a place for nonprofits, businesses and organizations across our region to convene and collaborate, while offering a permanent home to accommodate the growing work of CKCF. This home creates a dedicated space in our region that fosters synergy and strengthens relationships. The collaboration that will take place in this home will prompt new ideas for addressing what matters most to the people we serve.

“We know philanthropy’s role in community development will continue to increase in the coming decades. I am grateful our board is investing in this key building block to grow philanthropy in our region,” said Davette B. Swiney, President and CEO of CKCF. “This home is where collaboration and shared ideas come together to enhance the lives of others. It’s where those thoughts and dreams will flourish and take root.”

The Home of Philanthropy creates opportunities to bring people together around their philanthropic interests and showcase the great work of philanthropy in our communities. It’s a home where caring people come together to cultivate ideas and thoughts around creating a better tomorrow for our region.

“Since 1960, we have remained committed to our ideals and values, to serve the philanthropic needs of our region,” said Jeff Richardson, CKCF Board Chairman. “This new home will be a welcoming place for ideas that enhance our region. It will strengthen our ability to grow philanthropy in our communities, providing additional capacity for charitable programs, services and events.”

CKCF’s new location will be at next to the Hardin County Public Library on Jim Owen Drive in Elizabethtown, on land owned by the foundation for nearly 60 years. With the proximity to local partners, like the Early College and Career Center, Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, and Hardin County Public Library; an enduring symbol of the generosity of philanthropy, this was a natural choice for the Home of Philanthropy.

It is often said, home is where the heart is. The Home of Philanthropy is where our heart will reside and flourish – the heart of those striving to make a difference, the heart of those determined to bring comfort and happiness to others, the heart of those who are changing lives.

The grand opening is expected for the summer of 2019, and we look forward to welcoming you home.
